Top 5 Ways to Have Fun in Chicago

The third largest city in the United States, Chicago sees millions of visitors each year. With that number of tourists visiting the Midwestern city, it is no surprise that the Windy City boasts endless options for fun and entertainment throughout the year which makes it the perfect destination for any couple’s honeymoon. Make your honeymoon all about you two as you enjoy each other’s company with these top five ways to have fun in Chicago.

Visit Millennium Park

Millennium Park is one of Chicago’s most famous spots. The park includes a pavilion and houses Cloud Gate, a mirrored sculpture commonly referred to as The Bean. Tourists flock to take pictures with their many reflections in the sculpture’s surface. The park is known to host a variety of festivals and concerts in its pavilion. Those include events dedicated to house, gospel, and jazz music, drawing a diverse group of attendees to the park.

Ascend Willis Tower

Formerly the Sears Tower, Willis Towers stands over 100 stories tall and several hundred feet taller than the Eiffel Tower. The tower’s Skydeck allows visitors to ascend to the top of the building for a view of the city. On certain days, Skydeck has limited reservations for breakfast with this spectacular view.

See a Play

With its own theater district, Chicago provides plenty of options for plays and musicals. The city has touring productions, as well as originals plays, shown regularly in its theaters. On occasion, it has also been known to do a few test runs of shows before they move to New York.

Explore Museums

Not only is Chicago home to a thriving theater district, but the city also hosts some of the finest museums in the country. The Art Institute of Chicago often exhibits artwork by renowned artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Salvador Dali, and Pablo Picasso. Chicago also has the Adler Planetarium and a museum dedicated to its history that frequently features interactive exhibits.

Catch a Game

Chicago is home to teams in all four major American sports, including two baseball teams. No matter what time of year, visitors will always be able to attend a sports game in the city. Chicago fans are known to be dedicated, and with recent championships in both baseball and hockey, they have reason to be.

These five activities merely scratch the surface of the fun to be had in Chicago, but they are an amazing way to begin. After enjoying days filled with museums, parks, theater, and sports, be sure to indulge in the city’s fantastic food and shopping.

Top Tips for Coordinating Transportation on Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is one of the happiest day of your life, but it’s no secret that many weddings require months of planning to achieve that perfect day. When it comes to all the things that could go wrong, getting stranded because your transportation fell through is among the worst. Transportation can be one of the most critical and costly elements of your wedding day, so here are some tips for coordinating your wedding ride.

Plan Ahead

Renting vehicles can be expensive, and that price tends to rise the closer you get to the big day. Once you know you want transportation, look at your options as soon as possible so you can make an informed decision. Taxi and cabs can be grand if you know all of your guests from the ceremony have their own way of getting to the reception without any issue. If you live in an area where reaching the reception center might take a little longer, it might be nicer just to rent a shuttle for everyone involved.

Know Your Budget

Don’t order a fleet of limos if your budget says you’d be lucky to afford one of them. Search for all your rental options so you can compare price and quality. Some vehicles will be less expensive than others, and some companies might offer competitively priced packages for weddings. And of course, if you’re planning on taking pictures the day of (right after the ceremony), you also have to account for that cost during any rental vehicle you decide to go with.

Know Your Options

If you do a basic online search, you’ll likely see countless rental options, so make sure you check out the reviews. While limos may seem iconic, consider transporting the wedding party by bus or shuttle, and don’t forget about the guests! Make sure everyone is informed of the locations on your big day, especially if you’re not offering transportation yourself.

Use Professionals

Make sure you’re hiring a professional, and not just your coworker’s second cousin Vinny who happens to own a limo. A professional track record can make you feel more confident that the driver will show up and everything will run smoothly. They should also offer you a contract (which you should read over carefully), and a variety of prices and plans, and advice on which one would be best to take.

Don’t Forget the Little Things

Is the limo company insured? How will you transport your gifts? Do you also need rides for the rehearsal dinner or your bachelorette party? Does the driver have all the addresses and times? Do you have a plan for traveling in your wedding attire or will you decide to change for the reception? A bike or a carriage might seem romantic, but it’ll feel less so when your veil gets caught on the wheel, or when it takes forever to get to the reception venue.

When it comes to hiring transportation, there’s a lot of thought (and sometimes money!) involved, so it’s not a decision to be made lightly. Be open to all the possibilities, look over all contracts, and take care of the details so that your wedding day travels commence smoothly. And once you make that decision, don’t forget what another critical transportation planning effort: the honeymoon.

Laura and Kendall’s Wedding at the Ritz Charles Garden Pavilion

DJ Paul Michaels and DJ Terry just had the honor of providing ceremony and reception DJ services for Laura and Kendall at the Ritz Charles Garden Pavilion in Carmel, IN.  This was a destination wedding for us due to it being so far from Chicago. This was a really special wedding for Paul Michaels Events since DJ Paul has known Laura and Kendall for years. Paul and Laura went to college together at Bradley University

The original plan for this wedding was to have an outdoor ceremony, but due to the rain (thanks mother nature) we were forced to move the ceremony indoors. Luckily, the venue  had a really wonderful chapel which we were able to use for the couple’s ceremony. After the ceremony we moved everyone to the Garden Pavilion for cocktail hour and the reception. DJ Terry and DJ Paul went ‘back to back’ all night, switching off taking shifts DJing, which made this wedding extra unique.

Both Terry and Paul had a blast celebrating with the couple and their friends and family all night
