Stephanie and Tim’s Wedding at the Lighthouse Lodge in Monticello Indiana

We all know that 2020 has been a very difficult year, but in the midst of everything that is going on Stephanie and Tim were still able to celebrate their wedding. They had a beautiful outdoor, lakeside wedding at the Lighthouse Lodge in Monticello, IN where we provided their Indiana wedding DJ Services and destination outdoor wedding ceremony DJ services.

The Lighthouse Lodge was a perfect venue for Stephanie and Time to hold their wedding and was able to have their wedding ceremony a few feet from the water with the scenery being absolutely gorgeous, as seen in the pictures below.

After the ceremony everyone was able to enjoy the cocktail hour on the lawn just next to the ceremony site. We were lucky enough to work with violinist Rachael Miller once again. Rachael played live cover songs on her electric violin, which was a nice change in pace, and an exquisite surprise for the Stephanie and Tim’s guests.

When the cocktail hour was complete the guests were seated on a outdoor deck that sat right on top of the water. Once everyone finished dinner, it was time to get the dance floor going and we didn’t want to disappoint! Stephanie and Tim chose a variety of music that covered a lot of genres and DJ Shannon was able to add his flair to make sure their dance floor stayed busy! The dance floor had an amazing amount of energy and Rachael was able to play along with our music and improvise as she went which totally had the guests amazed.

Stephanie and Tim decided to extend our services for an extra hour because they just didn’t want to let the incredible night end! We had an amazing time working with Stephanie and Tim and wish them both the best in their very bright future.

5 Ways to Make the Most of Meeting with Your Wedding Vendors

guests dancing at a wedding

Vendor meetings can be fun as well as stressful, but should be productive. Sometimes, clients and vendors need to go back and forth until they finally arrive on the same page and see the same vision for the wedding.  While email and phone conversations can be effective, one-on-one meetings can be  advantageous as well. Below are some tips to communicate your needs, ideas, and concerns about your wedding to a prospective vendor.

  • Know Your Budget and Priorities

It’s important to have a budget set before you meet any vendor. While browsing the web for vendors, go with those whose prices or packages you can afford or are generally within your price range.

You should also prioritize your budget based on your needs and style. For example, you may prefer  to spend more on food  or entertainment and cut back on flowers.

  • Come Prepared

Before meeting with vendors, make sure you have a list of things you will be discussing with them. Identify the questions you want to ask and the ideas you want to discuss before scheduling a vendor meeting. Also, after you’ve chosen and contracted your vendors, be sure to share every detail of your wedding with them even if it doesn’t directly relate to their services. Tell them what you want and expect so they can help you with your vision. Sharing this level of detail  is very helpful not only to you, but also to them.

  • Be Open to Suggestions

You may already have a clear idea of what you want and need but that doesn’t mean you should reject every suggestion your vendor makes. Listen to them carefully and you may just pick some inspirations or get more ideas from them. Keep in mind, they have done hundreds or thousands of events and generally have an idea of what works and what doesn’t work as well.

  • Bring Your Partner

Your partner’s opinions really matter during vendor meetings. Vendors like DJs always love to meet the couple to determine their style and taste. This will help them personalize their services based on your taste.

  • Beware of Rip-Offs

Before signing the contract, ensure that every detail and specifics are in it. This includes the agreed price, date,  time, services being provided, etc. Check the authenticity of the vendor before working with them by checking online sources and reviews on third party sites like Google, or their facebook business page. See what others are saying about them ahead of time.

At Paul Michaels Events, we love to have  one-on-one meetings (either through video chat, or in-person when it’s possible) with our clients to help us understand their needs and taste. That’s only one out of dozens of reasons why we are Chicago’s premier wedding DJ and entertainers!
