Not every wedding is the same and that is why we love to work with our couples to make their wedding reception perfect for them. Cynthia and Joseph were already married before their reception, due to Covid, so their reception was truly meant to be a casual but yet fun celebration. Their wedding reception took place at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Arlington Heights. Cooper’s Hawk provided a great basement venue for the wedding reception. Because it was in the basement, we used lighting totems that were shorter than our typical 2 meter tall totems, in order to make sure that they fit in the room (and didn’t hit the ceiling). Details like this is why doing a site walk in the venue is so important, as it allows us to make adjustments to our gear to make sure the wedding day goes smoothly. In addition, the dining area and the dance floor area were a bit separated in the elongated room. We brought our main audio system for the dance floor, and additionally, plugged into the house system so that guests in the dining areas could enjoy the music and hear the speeches clearly in the seating/table area. We also provided full-room uplighting through both areas, which created a perfect glow on some of the wine barrel decorations throughout the Cooper’s Hawk Winery. This allowed all of the guests to be part of the celebration, no matter where they were in the room.

DJ Paul and Assistant Israel had everything ready to go as guests arrived for Cocktail hour in the reception area. After all of the guests arrived, they took their seats for the Bride and Groom’s welcome speech and a toast from the father of the bride. After dinner was served, the Bride and her father shared a dance together before the Bride and Groom did their first dance. The bride requested that to introduce the Father Daughter dance, that we make a reference to the movie ‘Father of the Bride’. The Bride’s father was always annoyed with the movie where Steve Martin didn’t get a chance to dance with his daughter before she leaves on her honeymoon,  so we wanted to make it clear before the dance that ‘this bride will always make time to dance with her father’. After they shared an emotional dance, the Bride and Groom shared a first dance to a song from the TV show Schitt’s Creek. The dance floor then broke out into a big dance party, concluding with everyone coming together for the last dance of the evening, which was Power Of Love by Huey Lewis.

We had a great time celebrating Cynthia and Joseph and we were so glad that we could help make this day the reception that you dreamed of, despite the delay due to Covid. Thank you for choosing Paul Michaels Events.
