Play Ball!!
Every once in a while, we here at Paul Michaels Events like to switch things up a bit. Yep, sometimes it’s nice to get a break from the formal events, and providing Dj services at a casual event, has its own rewards…especially when it serves a heartwarming purpose. Where kind of casual event you ask? A baseball game.
The morning of June, 23rd was the final game of the Buddy Baseball season at the beautiful Twin Creeks Park out in Buffalo Grove, IL. If you’re not familiar with Buddy Baseball, it’s the ultimate version of the game where everyone plays, hits, scores, and wins! You also get the added fun of having a buddy right beside you the entire game. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?! Thanks to the wonderful people at the Keshet organization, anyone can participate regardless of their abilities. Keshet is internationally recognized for its leading-edge services for individuals with disabilities.
Baseball was the main event, but it was only part of a much bigger picture. Happiness, that was the theme of the day. The game was just one way of sharing a smile with everyone. DJ Brian played his favorite happiness themed songs throughout the game. The announcer never took a break, constantly encouraging every player and getting the crowd to join in the action. It’s not every day that people are able to hear their play by play action being announced on loudspeakers while a crowd of people cheers them on. For these kids involved with Keshet, it meant the world to them to have the opportunity to relish in those special moments. They let you know it too with the huge smiles on their faces.
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in honor children who lost his life due to a medical condition. To give children born with disabilities the chance to do something they may never dream of doing. Most importantly, it was a chance to help improve the narrative as it relates to disabled people.
What a great time we had working with the Keshet organization on this great day of happiness and baseball. And… we did mention… FREE ICE CREAM!!
We had a great time, and look forward to providing entertainment services for them again next season. It was such a heartwarming experience.
