6 Creative Ways to Personalize Your Wedding

Your wedding is your day, therefore you can make it unique by personalizing your celebration to fit your personality. From the location you choose, to the wedding theme and wedding games, there are multiple ways to customize your event and make it unique. These are some great ideas to make a statement with your wedding!

  •         Include Meaningful Details

Special details about your life and love story will make your event unique. Is there a song that means a lot to your relationship? Play it! The story of how you met? Share it!

You can get ideas from your passion and hobbies. For example, if you love books, you can have your cake designed as a stack of books; if you love to travel, design your paper goods to look like a passport.

  •         Display Photos

You can include a wall or table or even a slide in the venue where you share photos of you and your partner-or just general pictures. The pictures can be of your family members or even loved ones that have passed.

  •         Personalize Your Menu and Signature Drinks

You can have fun by customizing the cocktails too. Let the bartender prepare a custom drink that has a special meaning to you.

Additionally, your food can be designed around your relationship or your roots and where you’re from. For example, if there is a food you both love to eat or a food significant to your tradition, you could have it served at your wedding reception!

  •         Include Fun Signage

Including signage is an excellent way to add your stamp on the wedding. You can share custom signage about your relationship. There are many ways you can do this: display your favorite quote, customize and add your initials to the favors, write out a part of your vows, personalize the aisle, and more.

  •         Celebrate Your Roots

Celebrate your roots, traditions, and beliefs by showcasing them at your event. For example, if there’s a practice significant to your culture or religion, you can include it in your wedding.

  •         Include Music You Love

Celebrate your day by playing music that you love. It is essential because music, more than anything else, adds life to any celebration!

2 Important Things a Great DJ Excels in Doing

There is more to DJing than just mixing songs or making playlists. It takes more than that to lead your guests through the entire evening smoothly and entertain audiences at weddings and parties. One good quality of a good DJ is not only do they have a wide database of music to choose from but they know which excellent songs to use when detecting the temperament and mood of guests at an event.

A professional DJ is adept at knowing the right place, moment, and mood to play particular songs. The best DJ is one who is creative enough to know his or her audience and the environment they are DJing. So, to be able to find great DJs from the amateurs, we have listed some tips below so you’ll be sure before you secure the services of a DJ for your wedding.

  • Reading the Room

A DJ who knows what they are doing, they can read the room and can play songs that induce particular emotions in the guests. A professional DJ will have years of experience with this, so it’s something he or she can easily do.

  • The Perfect Time to Play the Perfect Songs

A good DJ knows the right time to play certain types of music. The DJ has control and he must make sure he or she exceeds the audience’s expectations. The DJ must know how to read the time and moment to entertain each and everyone at the wedding venue. Exceptional DJs are those that know exactly what to play and when to play it.

If your Chicago wedding is right around the corner and you need a DJ who has perfected the points in this article, Paul Michaels Events would love to talk to you.

We promise to make your wedding a truly fun and memorable celebration. We have the talent, skills, equipment, passion, and drive, and we’ll bring them all to your wedding ceremony and reception!

Agata and Rui’s Wedding at the Redfield Estate in Glenview, IL

In August, DJ Terry was able to take our Chicago based Dj services to help Agata and Rui celebrate their wedding at the beautiful Redfield Estate in Glenview, IL.

The bride, being Polish was able to bring a lot of her family members from Poland, while the groom (Rui) was able to have a lot of his family come in from China. We’ve done a lot of mixed culture marriages in the past and we know how lucky this couple is to be able to have so many family members fly in for their wedding. It was a culture clash that just felt right.  Our favorite moment was during the wedding toasts when each speech utilized a translator for both polish and mandarin, so every speech was done in 3 languages (English, Polish, Mandarin).  It was quite impressive, and much appreciated for the visiting guests.

The weather was perfect on this day which took place entirely outdoors at the Redfield Estate.  The ceremony took place next to the mansion, and then after just a short walk down the path, dinner and dancing happened in the pavilion.  We were treated to many Chinese and Polish traditions throughout the night.

We had the great privilege to be able to watch a very untraditional video dedicated to the bride and groom made entirely of stop-motion sand art. When the couple said they wanted to be able to show a video that was made for them by a family member, we of course said we’d be able to handle this in terms of providing, testing, and setting up a screen and video projector for this special presentation.

Check out the pictures below where it looks like Agata and Rui got everything they wanted and more from DJ Terry and Paul Michaels Events, and left as happy as could be!

Malachi’s Bar Mitzvah at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse in River North Downtown Chicago

Bar Mitzvah Entertainers in Downtown Chicago

Mazel Tov Malachi!

Our A-Team for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs in Chicago recently partied with Malachi and his family and friends at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse in River North

Malachi did an awesome job reciting his Torah portions earlier in the day at Emanuel Congregation. As a result, some celebrations were definitely in order!  As the guests arrived, we played several fun games with Malachi and his friends, and the adults enjoy some time during a cocktail hour in the next room. There was some very fierce, but still friendly competition with the hula-hoop game and the scavenger hunt was something that should be remembered for years to come.

As guests entered the main celebration are, DJ Paul and DJ Terry opened the dance floor for them. Dancer Jeffrey and Dancer Jamie led the group by sharing a few follow-along dance moves. Malachi welcomed all the guests, and his brothers and parents gave excellent speeches. While the parents partook in dinner, we played a game of huggy-bear with the kids. If you’re not familiar with that game, it’s a great way to break the ice among kids. It’s similar to musical chairs, but with hugs. You should definitely Google it if you’re not familiar with it.

Once everyone was fed, the dance floor kicked off again with the Hora! Malachi was lifted in the chair by some guests…including his mom!

The night continued with Malachi’s awesome photo montage and a nail-biting game of Coke-and-Pepsi. When we weren’t playing games, Malachi, his friends, and the adults were on the dance floor the entire night!

Sam and Peter’s Wedding at Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park

WEdding Equipment rentals in Chicago

Sam and Peter got married at the Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park, and we provided the entertainment.

Sam and Peter were wed on June 15th at the Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park. and we had the great fortune of providing our entertainment services for the event. This couple went all out with the decorations. There was Full room uplighting, impressive dance floor lighting, a vintage L.O.V.E. lamp, and of course music and sound provided by Paul Michaels Events.

Although the details were all expertly arranged and set, mother nature had other plans that day. A brief but stubborn thunderstorm had the venue scrambling for a “Plan B” wedding ceremony. Thankfully veteran DJ Terry along with Assistant Adam were on the scene to help the transition go smoothly. Everything stayed on schedule and the couple was wed to sights and sounds they’ll never forget! The rest of the evening went off without a hitch. One thing was for sure, this couple was here to party.

Terry and Adam, being experts at their craft, kept the energy at a high level all night. From a spectacular bridal party introduction to ensuring the dance floor was full all evening, the reception felt like an elegant nightclub. Add a surprise beat-boxer, some breakdancing, and some very wild guests and you have the makings of a night not many will ever forget.

Devil’s Ball at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University in Chicago

Our night providing entertainment services for the Devil’s Ball at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University

We recently rocked out at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University in Chicago for their annual “Devil’s Ball”. We were so happy to be providing the DJ services for this party. Plus, we brought the photobooth and provided those services as well.

Paul Michaels Events had one of our best veteran DJs, DJ Terry, play the tunes and entertain the crowd. It was a great event, and it seemed like all had a great time while supporting the restoration and preservation of the National Historic Landmark Auditorium Theatre.

The ball provided an impressive silent auction spread, wine auction, gave theater tours, and of course food, drinking, and dancing.  The photobooth services were a big hit as well. It was a family friendly event, so the guest’s ages were all over the spectrum. This made for a very interesting night of music, charity, and fun.

When the dance floor opened, everyone was treated to an interesting variety of music. From disco to modern pop, everyone was there to party. Everything was going great, and then…

…Bam. Surprise belly dancers! These flexible ladies shook things up with some impressive moves and had guests in awe. When their set concluded. we kept the party hopping. The dance floor stayed packed the remainder of the evening. Many didn’t want the party to end, as guests were singing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody as they left the theater. It was truly a night to remember.

Lauren and Jonathan’s University Club Wedding

Last weekend DJ Terry was honored to provide DJ services for Lauren and Jonathan’s Wedding at the University Club of Chicago, in downtown Chicago. Terry provided DJ services for the reception, as well as full room Amber colored uplighting, and also provided cocktail hour music (in a separate room).

Sorry for the lack of pictures, apparently the flash on the camera wasn’t working quite right, but it was clear from the guests raving at the end of the night (and staying until the very last minute) that everyone had an incredible time partying with Lauren and Jonathan!

Lauren and Jonathan: Both Terry and I (Paul) had a great time working with you to help pull off your perfect wedding day. Thanks for letting us both be a part of such a special day for you guys!
