As we roll through the month of October, the weddings roll along with it. For several of our weddings this season, we’ve been traveling all over the Midwest providing DJ Services. However, Mandy and Rick’s wedding kept us in the area, which took place at the historic Firehouse Chicago. This gorgeous venue is located in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. After getting to know the couple, we can say that this venue was the perfect vibe for their special day. All the vendors they chose helped make the day incredible. For us, our wedding base package proved to be exactly what they needed for their reception.
The evening started off strong as the bride and groom made one of the most memorable entrances we’ve ever seen. As “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne played, Rick and Mandy came sliding down the fire pole that’s part of the venue’s iconic architecture. As their guests cheered and jumped up and down with excitement, we knew this was going to be a great wedding. The Caterist provided an amazing buffet for everyone and some delicious donuts for dessert. Instead of a cake cutting, Mandy and Rick decided to do a “donut shoving”, which was most humorous and adorable. After the couple exchanged donuts, DJ Shannon opened up the dance floor for the dancing part of the night.
The dance floor stayed busy the entire night, with guests jamming to a wide variety of the newlyweds’ favorites. The crowd danced to folk, pop, classic rock, jazz, punk, and more! To get everyone even more involved, Mandy did a bouquet toss with the single ladies, and DJ Shannon hosted the shoe game for the bride and groom. The guests had so much fun with this and the responses from Mandy and Rick got everyone laughing and cheering. Finally, the night concluded with “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede – and, truly, everyone was hooked on the feeling of an amazing day.
We wish these two many many exciting times and memories, and thank them once again for choosing Paul Michaels Events to be a part of their big day!
