The best part about being a DJ at weddings is seeing the joy on people’s faces when two people they love are getting married. Maggie and Rob’s wedding was a prime example of this. For this occasion, we had the opportunity to fill the role of “Downtown Chicago wedding DJ” by providing our DJ services at the Royal Sonesta. We provided our wedding base package for their reception, plus upgraded their space with some uplighting. We also provided our ceremony services. The couple wanted a fun, energetic reception that would keep their guests on the dance floor for the entire night, and we made sure to deliver.
Standing on top of the penthouse at the Royal Sonesta, there was no question why Maggie and Rob chose this venue to host their special day. The views from the top were absolutely incredible! Thankfully, the July weather was perfect for their outdoor ceremony. Though it was a bit overcast, the sun peeked out at the perfect moments, and the temperature was gorgeous. After a beautiful ceremony, guests moved indoors to enjoy an upscale cocktail hour. The bride and groom made their entrance to “This is What You Came For” – a very fitting title, given the occasion. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, laughed and cried during some toasts, and then came time for the best part of the evening: the dancing! DJ Brian opened up the dance floor and everyone was ready to party. He played some throwbacks (Cher, Backstreet Boys, and Coolio), as well as some current favorites (Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and The Weeknd). DJ Brian didn’t hold back from playing hit after hit, and the range of music kept the dance floor packed all night long!
At one point in the evening, Amanda, Maggie’s maid of honor, helped coordinate with us a cute tradition that Maggie’s family likes to do. They sang a song with her family’s last name, and everybody gathered around to encourage this special moment. The last song of the evening snuck up before too long, but Maggie and Rob made sure to make this a last “hurrah”. Streamers got passed out and thrown in the air as everyone swayed to “Young Forever”. It was the most brilliant ending to this night, but seeing the newlyweds have so much fun dancing with all their favorite people was the highlight for us.
