Surprise! Surprise wedding that is!
DJ Paul and DJ Marc recently helped Katie and Jared throw their surprise wedding ceremony and reception at Morgan’s on Fulton in the Fulton Market District in the West Loop of Chicago. What’s that even mean exactly? It means Katie and Jared didn’t tell any of their friends that they were having their wedding. Only their immediate families were in on the secret! All their friends who showed up for their wedding actually thought they were coming for an engagement party! How awesome is that?
Why did they do this? They wanted to skip the 1-1.5 year planning process of a wedding and remove the pressure on their guests of bringing gifts, dressing up, etc. They wanted everyone to come as they were and just help them celebrate while keeping it casual!
When guests arrived, they were greeted with some cocktails on the first floor where they found out they had actually just arrived for the wedding. All the guests moved to the second floor for the wedding ceremony, and then moved up another floor to the roof (in a heated tent) for the wedding reception. Of course, just like the whole wedding, they didn’t have a typical reception dinner, so they had food stations available with tacos and other food.
DJ Marc and DJ Paul celebrated with all the guests upstairs until the end of the official reception, and then we had another DJ setup in the basement where we played music until 1:30am for the official after party.
