The most special weddings have a little bit of everything: heartfelt vows, a few surprises, and a dance floor that never quits. This was exactly the case for Shannon and Randy’s wedding, where we had the privilege of providing the soundtrack for both their outdoor ceremony and their reception at Trademark Events.
The celebration began on a private property selected by the couple for their ceremony. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect! A sunny, 65-degree fall day with a warm breeze and the trees just beginning to show their first hints of color – the ideal weather for such a special occasion. The ceremony space was a wide-open field surrounded by beautiful foliage, creating a natural and intimate setting for the couple’s vows. Because it was a remote area with no available power, we brought in a completely battery-powered sound system. Our professional setup included three wireless microphones and two high-end QSC speakers, all powered by a silent battery pack.
Guests were greeted by the host families’ three friendly dogs and ushers who helped everyone find their seats before the ceremony began. As the processional started, the wedding party made their entrance in pairs, taking their places beside Pastor Patrick, who officiated the ceremony. Randy stood at the front, keeping his focus steady until his bride appeared from a lightly wooded path, making a stunning entrance to the aisle.
Throughout the ceremony, Pastor Patrick offered heartfelt words of guidance and encouragement. When it came time for vows, both Shannon and Randy spoke from the heart. Shannon, however, had one more surprise up her sleeve; After reading her vows, she began singing a beautiful rendition of “Bless the Broken Road”, her voice carrying across the open field. It was a moment that stopped everyone in their tracks, especially Randy, who was visibly emotional as he listened to his bride’s heartfelt performance. When the ceremony concluded, and the newlyweds were introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy, Randy sealed the moment with an unforgettable kiss – one the guests won’t soon forget!
After post-ceremony photos, guests made their way to the reception while DJ Tim and Assistant Logan broke down the outdoor setup and headed to Trademark Events to prepare for the celebration ahead. They worked quickly to get everything in place, ensuring guests arrived to the sound of soft cocktail-hour music that set a relaxed and welcoming tone. Once the wedding party was ready, DJ Tim (who also served as MC for the night) met with the newlyweds to review their timeline and prepare for what was sure to be a show-stopping grand entrance.
The couple sure knew how to make an entrance! Shannon and Randy chose “Sirius” by The Alan Parsons Project (he same song used for the legendary 1990s Chicago Bulls player introductions!) for their wedding party’s arrival. Channeling the energy of the iconic Ray Clay, DJ Tim announced the “Wedding Party Starting Lineup” as each name echoed through the room. Guests cheered and applauded as the newlyweds made their entrance, setting an electric tone for the rest of the night.
Dinner featured a crowd-pleasing Mexican-style taco buffet, giving everyone a chance to fuel up before hitting the dance floor. Once dinner wrapped up, the couple took a moment to thank their guests and families for their love and support, expressing how much it meant to have everyone there celebrating with them.
The newlyweds opened the dance floor with their first dance to “Then” by Brad Paisley. The dance ended, fittingly, with Randy dipping Shannon into another heartfelt kiss that earned cheers from the crowd. Next, Randy shared a tender dance with his mother, Janice, followed by one of the night’s most touching and fun moments: Shannon’s dance with her son, Benji. Halfway through their dance, Shannon surprised everyone by switching into a custom Paul Michaels Events remix that turned the moment into a TikTok-style dance routine, to the delight of all their guests. Not to be outdone, Randy and his groomsmen decided to join the fun later with a playful, impromptu dance to the classic “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred. The room erupted with laughter and applause as they leaned into the moment with full confidence and plenty of humor.
Once the formalities wrapped up, DJ Tim officially opened the dance floor, and it stayed full all night. He kept the energy high with a perfect blend of crowd favorites and the couple’s must-play songs, smoothly mixing between genres to make sure everyone found a reason to dance. From sing-alongs to spontaneous dance circles, the celebration stayed lively until the very end. The bouquet toss was caught by one of the youngest guests of the night, followed by an unforgettable garter retrieval that had everyone laughing as Randy performed a “magic trick” to reveal the garter in style. By the time the last song played, the room was still buzzing with excitement — the sign of a truly great wedding night.
Shannon and Randy’s wedding day was a perfect blend of heartfelt emotion, fun surprises, and incredible energy. From Shannon’s live serenade at the ceremony to their Chicago-Bulls-style introductions and all the laughter in between, every moment reflected their personalities and the love they share. Paul Michaels Events was honored to be part of such a special celebration. We’re so grateful to have been trusted with this amazing day and wish Shannon and Randy all the happiness in the world as they begin their next chapter together!
